JoAnn Baker, 80, died Friday evening March 28, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Atalissa following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday April 2, 2014, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Watkins Cemetery, rural Nichols. Memorials may be made for Alzheimer’s Research. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com.

JoAnn was born June 5, 1933, in Muscatine, the daughter of James and Gertrude Cozad. She was united in marriage to Donald Baker; following his death, she was later married to Jim Bateman.

She had worked for the Isle of Capri and enjoyed gambling, collecting stuffed animals and dolls, getting her hair and nails done, spending time with her family, traveling and dining out.

Survivors include five children: Mary Baker of Atalissa, Ronnie (Barbara) Titus of Columbus, Ga., Harold (Linda) Baker of Columbus, Ga., Larry (Carol) Baker of Columbus, Ga., and Jack (Sabrina) Baker of Phoenix City, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters: Madeline Black of Muscatine, May Lucas of Muscatine, Deborah Mitchell of Arizona and Alma Shank of Iowa City; and sister-in-law Charlene Cozad of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Baker and Jim Bateman, sister Gertrude Coleman and brother Jr. Cozad.
